Tips from Pros to Noobs.

This thread is for the pros to help noobs get the basics down.

So, all the pros out there: Post below what ARE the basics. What you think EVERY sig needs and how to create those things. I'll update this post with each tip given.

Don't be a dick. Don't be an ass. Just help the noobs, that's what the club was made for originally.

Well a tag should have
Depth
Lighting
FLow
TO them do this:
Lighting: Choose where you want the light to come from, then use paths tool and draw a light path. Fill it with a light color. Set to screen
Flow: Um c4ds Smudging. ALmost anything
Depth sharpen render blur BG

Can someone give me some tips on how to get good flow?

Use C4Ds that complement the action that your render. If you've got Master Chief aiming with a sniper, have C4Ds move along the barrel of the sniper. Also, use the Pen Tool or the Freeform Pen Tool to make a path, then right click and select "Stroke Path". If you hit okay when is shows the brush in the drop down, it will stoke the line you made with your current brush. You can also duplicate your render and smudge the render on the bottom so that it goes with the action of the render. The last way I know of to add flow is to use brushes. That is also the easiest way.

o then. did you make a master chief sig? Id like to see an example of the c4d one

No, I didn't. I made one when using Paint.NET, but that was the only one and even then he didn't have a sniper rifle. Anyway, here is an example of using C4Ds to create flow:



Those C4Ds around the Tornado Kirby complement the tornado spinning.

I can see its epicness. Kirby is just a bad render. Pink plus anyother color tends not to be good except for fire kirby

The render doesn't have to be the same color as the rest of the tag. It is better if it contrasts, it provides contrast in the tag and makes the render stick out. It is all about making the TAG to fit the RENDER, not making the RENDER to fit the TAG. No, I'm not saying the tag should be pink, I'm saying build the tag so that the render looks win. That is why flow and lighting even exists, the render/focal point. Besides, making a sig one color is REALLY boring imo.

Other one is better. Also the kirby might be popping out so much that its kinda distracting from literally everything.

try using gradient maps to blend colors a bit more but dey good i used gradient maps on ur first look

I can't find any good c4ds to match anything... Help?

That one was already blended well. As for the other one, I wanted it to stand out. I'll use a gradient map on it and see how it looks.

Dont really like it looks kinda bad. the render is too simple the tag is kinda empty. the scan lines make it harder to see the c4ds so in my opinion it aids to the emptiness. I do se depth though. no lighting but I also see a bit of flow

It's only simple, I'm too tired to make it looks not empty..

Not that bad Only one problem. The renders looks too dark compared to everything else.

The rule of thirds is ALWAYS needed on tags.

OMIGOD YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT THE RULE OF THIRDS IS O.O. Look it up, its like a law to make your tags better.

I did but my stupid mom grounded me for mumbling. Then I went to her office and messed 4 things up. She bought Halo Reach for me and Let me use my computer again so I told her I'd fix it and she grounded me agian. Now I can only use PC 1 hour. I frikin Pissed
